Ah, sweet recovery. Week 8 was a slight cut in volume from the previous two weeks, but, more importantly, it was a heavy reduction in intensity. I dropped back to the bottom of Zone 2 and an easy, all-day Relative Perceived Effort (RPE) for all runs except the Saturday long run, which I pushed into the bottom of Zone 3.

Even though I’d been feeling great the previous weeks, my body obviously needed the recovery time. My morning resting heartrate¬†saw regular drops into the upper 40s and the weekly average was down to 51. I finished the week with a 10 mile long run and felt spry and “on”.

My Saturday morning weigh-in was 177.0 pounds, so my diet and exercise were still doing their jobs.
